Restore Linux Image (previously backup using Acronis) into VMware

Issue/Problem:

Restoring the backup image into VMware (or somether dissimilar harddware) might not work. The kernel might not able to detect the hard disk or root volume. Error like "waiting for device /dev/sda3 to appear"

Solution:

The solution below is tested to work in openSUSE 11.1 in  vmware player

1. Boot with rescue mode of the install CD and log in with root rights

Install Acronis for 64-bit openSUSE Linux

You might have problem installing or running Acronis Backup Agent for 64-bit Linux.

Solution:

You have to run the follow command in order to install the necessary components under 64-bit openSUSE:

zypper install pam-32bit

zypper install libsepol1-32bit
